Renters’ Rights Bill… A Timeline

Hello Readers,

Following my recent Renters’ Rights Bill update, I have received a notification from Propertymark that included a timeline for the Renters’ Rights Bill.

The bill is currently at the Committee stage and it is my understanding from the alert that this will start on Tuesday 22nd April, last for six days and conclude on 14th May.

These dates are, of course, subject to change but a helpful guideline nonetheless. There are now a total of 134 proposed amendments and you can find them all listed here.

Following the committee stage, the Bill will move to the report stage which I understand is likely to conclude in June and certainly before the summer recess in July meaning that Royal Ascent could be in the Autumn with an implementation date (or timeline) shortly after.

This Bill is arguably the biggest shake up to property legislation and something that will lead to significant change for the Private Rental Sector.

I will keep you updated as the bill progresses and when it is finalised, provide you with all the information you need to remain compliant.

If you’ve read through the proposed amendments, were there any that particularly stood out? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts! The best way to reach me is by emailing hasan@home-share.co.uk.
